The Way Forward After The Second Wave

The panel discussion was one of its kind in India. It was interdisciplinary and diverse in its choice of panellists. The panellists comprised of the noted professors of Ashoka, all renowned in their field of expertise. The panellists were Professor Shahid Jameel, Director, Trivedi School of Biosciences, Professor Ashwini Deshpande, Director, Centre of Economic Data and Analysis, Professor Gautam Menon, Director, 3CS, Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability, Professor Amita Baviskar, Professor of Environmental Studies and Sociology and Anthropology and Professor Mekhala Krishnamurthy, Associate Professor of Sociology and Social Anthropology.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ashoka, Professor Malabika Sarkar delivered the opening address highlighting how important language has become during this pandemic since we are in a virtual mode carrying out our everyday tasks. The discussion covered the updates on the virological and the epidemiological aspects of COVID-19 and its socio-economic and ecological impact. It was attended by a wide variety of audiences which included academicians, scientists, doctors, journalists and students alike. Here's the link to the panel discussion.

The session was moderated by Akash Kumar who is the Assistant Manager of Mphasis Lab for Machine Learning and Computational Thinking and also the Founding Convenor of Ashoka Distinguished Policy Speaker Series.
